The Practice

Using sound to create space for attunement

As the first tone rings out, notice what softens in you. What expands. The sound waves move through the room, and through you, inviting your nervous system to rest and your body to remember its wisdom. Perhaps you take your first deep breath of the day–or the year. Maybe you get better sleep, feel less physical pain, or find it easier to cope with life’s difficulties. This is the healing space I am aiming to build: a gentle return to your own inner knowing, guided by sound.

I have always been fascinated by energy and the physical world. I was born when the sun was in Cancer, the moon was in Capricorn, and Scorpio was on the horizon. I have gifts in sensing what others need, no fear of the underworld, and a grounded, disciplined approach to emotions and transformation. With my natal sun in the 9th house, I shine through seeking meaning beyond the ‘familiar’, through things like philosophy, travel, education, and spirituality.

A big teacher for me was nature. When I was eight, you could find me up a tree with permanently skinned knees and a jar of caterpillars. In college, I studied environmental science; and in graduate school, geography. I was also fortunate to have an astrologer in my family, as my curiosity about the natural world extended to the landscape of the human experience as well.

Another teacher was hardship. In 2022, I sought the guidance of a retreat at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA to reconnect with myself and was quite lit up by it. As a person affected by childhood trauma, I understand what it feels like to have a nervous system that can be off-kilter, and how hard it can be to get back to a feeling of safety. After my first silent retreat, it became easier to recognize the spaces that felt truly safe and how to curate that felt safety.

I first experienced playing singing bowls at a workshop at the Center for Sound Healing in 2024. The same year, I trained as a meditation teacher at the Yoga East Healing Arts Studio. Currently, I’m working on a diploma in Integral Sound Healing from the Sound Healing Academy. What’s next? I’m also learning astrocartography–a natural blend of my two passions: astrology and geography!

No one understands exactly how an electron can act like both matter and light. And, there is still much about our energetic bodies that is yet to be understood. But, I believe we can get closer by listening to our bodies. Practices in spirituality, somatics, and therapy can all feel amazing when they are in alignment with our energy. It’s really about being able to recognize what is in alignment with you.

If you feel like you’re caught in a strainer and the river of life is tossing you around, or if you’re barely hanging on, or even if you’re drowning, I’m here to remind you that the answers are all inside you waiting to be heard, and Sound Circle is here to help you gently re-access them.
